WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE SAYING

We have been teaching professionally for over 35 years, and that in itself should speak volumes. We have many students from all walks of life: teachers, doctors, business owners, law enforcement personnel and military. GMA has changed hundreds of lives and has assisted children in leadership and academic excellence. GMA, over the years, has had hundreds of good reviews and one or two less than perfect reviews. We, however, continue to try our best to bring quality martial arts to our community and to all our students.

In today’s world, many online reviews can be fake, half truths or self reviews. GMA prefers to post the actual letters online and all reviews are tracked via IP & registered by an independent company. All perspective students and parents are also welcome to visit the academy for a Free Trial Lesson and see our testimonial book containing the actual testimonial letters. You are welcome to talk with our instructors, masters, students and our parents about our programs and our academy.

At GMA we care about all students and family members that enter our academy, so all our instructors are certified and have gone through intensive level 3 (local, state, federal) background checks. We believe in running an organized, professional and positve martial arts academy.

Love this place, they are so good with children are really care about them. They go the extra mile and teach all the children to behave and they stress to do well in school. I am so impressed with the level of teaching both of my children are getting and they love being a part of the Demonstration team too.

GMA has the best instructors and Grand Master. They treat you like family and are so good with the children. Master Davis and Master Spillman have done wonders with my grandson and granddaughter in the little Lions class. They have already moved up two belt levels since they started. Thank you all at GMA.!!

I've been to a lot of martial arts schools, and I would definitely rate Gallatin among the top. The instructors are great! They make everyone feel welcome there. You can definitely tell the students love their instructors and it feels like family there. If you live near Gallatin, no need to shop around anywhere else.

We just joined a few wks ago. I am so impressed with everyone here. These master trainers LOVE these kids! Honestly, I don't know how they keep these kids focused, but they do. Absolute positive energy from the minute you hit the door!

GMA will change your life.

John Biggerstaff  07/15/2017

About 35 years ago, I started on a journey. Initially, I embarked on this journey because I was tired of being bullied. I was 14 years old, and I was smaller than most of the other kids in school...so I was an easy target. So I asked my parents to sign me up for Taekwondo. My parents enrolled me at Fountain of Health Taekwondo Academy in Juliet. The primary instructor there was Master John Colgate. I absolutely loved it. I trained relentlessly...I lived and breathed martial arts. I wanted to be the next Bruce Lee.

I got my black belt when I was 17 years old. I felt like I was on top of the world. I had speed...agility...power. I was determined to have my own taekwondo school someday. Then, life happened. I trained for 2-3 more years, but then I started to feel stagnated in my training...I didn't feel like I was growing or learning. On top of that, other things became more important in my mind. Dating, partying, the club scene...then eventually, marriage. So by the time I hit 20 years old, I decided to quit training altogether...I simply walked away from it all and played adult league softball for the next 24 years.Four years ago, two of my sons, Jon Biggerstaff and Connor Biggerstaff expressed an interest in learning martial arts. So I checked around and found Gallatin Martial Arts. I took them in and they did a free trial class...they were hooked, just like I was. As I sat there watching them, I thought to myself, "Man, I sure do miss doing that!" So I hung up my softball cleats and signed up for taekwondo again...24 years later. I also figured that I could try to get my next belt rank...2nd degree black belt.

I was in no rush to test, however. For me, it was more of an opportunity to do something with my two youngest kids. In addition, I realized that I didn't have the speed, agility and flexibility that I used to have! Lol. But I told myself that I would stay in it as long as they wanted to stay in it. Jonathan stopped training when he got his red belt. Just like me so many years before, other things became priority over martial arts. Connor, however, wanted to stay in it. So I stayed in it with him.

Last weekend, we had Summer Camp at Gallatin Martioal Arts. It was an intense, 24 hour camp where training was nonstop, with the exception of a 3 hour break to sleep. Connor and I both attended. We pushed thru blood, sweat, rashes, shin splints and even some tears...but we made it.

Connor will now be ready to test for his black belt in February...and words cannot express how proud I am of him. His perseverance...his determination...his indominatable spirit. He is hungry to achieve that black belt...something that only 1 in every 10,000 martial arts students ever achieve. As for me? The last hour of summer camp was testing time for those who were able to test. Yes, I tested. The result is what you see pictured. 28 years after I walked away from it all, I finally earned my 2nd degree black belt. I'm not going to lie...it was an emotional moment for me. It's something that I never thought I would achieve...and it wouldn't have been possible without the unbelievable support, training, encouragement, and guidance from the instructors at Gallatin Martial Arts and Grandmaster Konrad Spillmann. These instructors are the real deal, and I consider them FAMILY. They don't run a "black belt farm" where black belts are handed out like medals, just so kids can "feel better". At Gallatin Martial Arts, you have to EARN your black belt.

It's never too late to start. It's never too late to start again. Nobody is too old, too young, too busy, too tired...those are just excuses. If you want to embark on a life-changing experience, come check out Gallatin Martial Arts on the square. I promise it will change your life forever.
